CHANDLER, AZ — A portion of Loop 101 in Chandler was shut down early Thursday morning due to a deadly crash and fire near Ray Road.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the driver of a tow truck reportedly struck an attenuator and barrier wall around 3 a.m.
DPS says the collision caused the truck to catch fire.
The driver, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The freeway was shut down after the crash, but began partially reopening around 5 a.m.
