JAKES CORNER, AZ — Fire crews are working to put out a new wildfire that sparked early Sunday afternoon in Gila County.

The “Pioneer Fire” sparked about four miles south of Jakes Corner and north of Tonto Basin.
As of 2:15 p.m., forward progress on the fire had been stopped at 25 acres. The current containment is at 25%, according to officials.

The Brownsville Mobile Home Park is on SET status because of the fire.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office tells ABC15 they believe the fire was human-caused and accidental. They believe that someone welding a fence may have sparked the blaze.
