Tempe police say it happened around 4:45 a.m. in a neighborhood near US 60 and Rural Road.

Ashley and Jason Turnquist woke up to the entire front entryway of their home caved in.

“The dogs started going crazy, like we have four dogs, so the dog started barking and like running towards the like the living room,” Jason said.

By the time he got to the front, Turnquist said the car was already backing out and speeding away.

“It’s so early in the morning, it was barely even light out, so it’s like it’s more of a silhouette of a Jeep,” he said.

The couple, their grandmother and four dogs inside the home at the time are safe.

They said they are renovating their home and just finished the front yard, which is now strewn with tire tracks, glass and other damage.

While the exact cause of the crash is unknown, the Turnquists’ goal in finding the driver is to get them help.

“It would be great to press charges, but we have insurance for a reason,” Ashley said. “My primary concern is that this individual does get help if they were under the influence.”

Tempe police are investigating the crash.

They ask anyone who may have camera footage of the crash to call the department at 480-350-8311 or call Silent Witness at 800-343-8477.
