Man dead after a shooting involving Chandler police near McQueen and Ray roads

CHANDLER, AZ — A man is dead after a shooting involving Chandler police on Saturday morning.

It happened near McQueen and Ray roads just before 10:15 a.m. for reports of a domestic dispute.

Once officers arrived, they saw a man holding a shotgun in front of a yard, and a woman was also seen sitting in a nearby car.

Officials say “multiple commands were given for the man to drop the shotgun, that is when the officer-involved shooting occurred.”

One officer fired multiple rounds, striking the man, police said.

Fire and police crews pronounced the man dead at the scene. An ABC15 crew at the scene observed a body covered on the ground as investigators worked the area.

Chandler police said there is no danger to the public, all officers are unharmed, and traffic restrictions may be in place while the investigation continues.
