PHOENIX — A woman is in extremely critical condition and another person is dead after a crash involving a car and motorcycle in west Phoenix early Saturday morning.

Phoenix firefighters were called around 1:45 a.m. to the area of 51st Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road for a crash involving multiple patients.
Officers arriving on scene found the adult male driver of the motorcycle, identified as 35-year-old Leon Jimenez, unresponsive. An adult female passenger on the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries.
The fire department pronounced Jimenez deceased at the scene. The female passenger was transported to a hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

The driver of the second vehicle, an adult male, remained on scene and was not injured. He showed no signs of impairment, according to police.
Phoenix police say preliminary information indicates Jimenez made a left turn and collided with the side of the vehicle.
