PHOENIX — A 15-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a car at an apartment complex in north Phoenix on Tuesday afternoon.

Phoenix police say they responded to the complex near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road just before 3 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, only identified as a 15-year-old girl, was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained on scene after the crash.
Police believe the girl was walking across the driveway entrance to the complex when she was struck by the vehicle as it entered the parking lot.
Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation, and it is not clear at this point if the driver will face any charges.
