Emergency crews were first called to the Cholla Trailhead around 9 a.m. for reports of hikers stung by a swarm of bees.
Officials told ABC15 they made contact with four people who were stung, all with minor injuries. Later, officials learned the total number of people stung was eight with one person needing to go to a hospital.
Video from the scene showed a large number of emergency crews on the mountain and emergency vehicles near the trailhead.

Officials say you should be aware of bees, especially this time of year.
Last month, a hiker was stung more than 100 times at Lookout Mountain in Phoenix.
Experts say most of the bees we see in the Valley are Africanized honeybees, which are more aggressive and territorial. Bees become more active when it is hotter out as they look for more water for their colony. More plants are blossoming, too, which bees love.
A total of 8 people were evaluated, all in stable condition. One person was transported to the hospital. All crew members are safely off of the mountain. pic.twitter.com/7wFjc0qw8W
