Authorities say two speeding vehicles caused the crash. A 26-year-old man was heading northbound at a high rate of speed. He failed to stop for traffic waiting at the red light and hit two vehicles that were stopped at the intersection.
Police say a second speeding driver, a 33-year-old man, was traveling northbound and also failed to stop. He hit the rear of another stopped vehicle, pushing it into an oncoming car in the southbound lanes. The 33-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Authorities say impairment and speed are believed to be factors for both drivers.
